![]() Soft spring pressure in the gear box can lead to real hard starting, and in some cases when it does start it will refuse to rev up and rattle/chatter like crazy! You should also have your gear box checked by a qualified tech with proper press and tools to measure and adjust your bevel washer spring pack pressure. If you find any problems, GET THEM CORRECTED by a qualified technician! Examine closely the condition of the pistons and cylinder walls looking for scuffing, excess carbon build up, stuck piston rings, blow by etc. You should also arm yourself with the proper engine manuals, those also can be down loaded from the Rotax-Owner web site under the "Information" section.Īt the very least, to get some idea of engine condition, you could remove the exhaust "Y" pipe and look into the exhaust ports of each cylinder. We're sure not starting off with a lot of information, that makes it tough! Without knowing the service history and pedigree of the engine, we really don't know were we stand and can only assume the worst to error on the side of safety!
